La storia di 16
16 è nata in un pomeriggio di Luglio, come obbligo, come lascia passare. Ai tempi, avevo bisogno di ben tre inediti da presentare al College di Musica Moderna a Londra.
Era un periodo un po’ no, uno di quelli in cui hai solo voglia di prendere e fuggire via. Come stavo provando a fare.
Il 2018 era l’apice. E Sixteen il suo direttissimo rilascio.
La canzone nella sua versione originale si discosta molto da come, in seguito, ho deciso di produrla.

Ad ogni modo, 16 mi ha accompagnato fino alla laurea in Songwriting nel 2021.
E finalmente, è libera.
16 – the story
16 was born during the hottest summer. 16 was way more honest than me, and angry in a way I never could express. Words slipped though the tongue and there 16 was born.
This track allowed me to attend the Bachelor’s degree in songwriting at Bimm London. It was the song I wrote for the audition.
During the three years course, I learnt how to sharpen the pencil, allowing words to serve the song and not my feelings.
This song has been written by the old Reiwa, who expressed herself in a different though purer way.
Production-wise, I tried many different musical elements before coming to the conclusion that the track should have been more ‘intimate’ and powerful. I chose to record different vocal tracks to create the dreamy vibe, while keeping the same piano arpeggio for the whole song.
I made it all on Logic Pro X, in my home studio in Sicily.

Reiwa Pia è una cantautrice e produttrice siciliana. Figlia dell’Etna, la sua musica è ispirata alla mescolanza di suoni campionati dal vivo e layering di voci che creano una musica sognante e penetrante.
Reiwa è guidata dal bisogno di comunicare e condividere i suoi sentimenti con tutto quello che ha a disposizione: scrittrice, illustratrice e poli strumentista, i suoi brani sono sia in inglese che in italiano. Inoltre, l’artista adora registrare suoni in giro per poi utilizzarli nelle sue produzioni, come i passi, il suono del mare o il vento.
Dal vivo, Reiwa porta in scena uno spettacolo completamente da sola, registrando e campionando ogni elemento dal vivo.

Reiwa Pia is a Sicilian singer-songwriter and producer. Daughter of Mount Etna, her music takes inspiration by mixing live recorded natural sounds and vocal layering, creating a dreamy and penetrating vibe.
Reiwa is driven by the need to communicate and share her feelings with everything at her disposal: writer, illustrator and multi-instrumentalist, Reiwa takes advantage of all her tools to create. She also loves recording footsteps, the sound of the sea or the wind. Then she put everything into her music, though you may not recognize it.
Her music is bilingual, both English and Italian.
